Small Pots from Nicaragua

These beautiful little pots are handcrafted in a family workshop in the community of San Juan de Oriente, Nicaragua. They are created out of local clay, turned on a kick wheel, hand-painted, and, after being fired, intricate designs are etched past the glaze using a sgraffito technique.  Low fired in a wood-fired beehive-shaped kiln, they are not meant to hold water.
