This is a wonderful sculpture by married artisans Beatriz and Damian Morales, who live in Santiago de Arrazola, in Oaxaca, Mexico. Hand carved from copal wood by Damien and intricately hand-painted by Beatriz. The shell is colorful like a quilt and the body is spotty like a tropical lizard. It’s a wild and beautiful creature.
